I love makeup. I love all of it. But what I’ve never been able to get into is the foundation. I am not a fan of foundation. Don’t get me wrong, I dig it every once in a while. I just don’t like it as part of my makeup routine for a couple of reasons. I have dry skin and the times that I have applied foundation, it dries out on weird spots on my face (even though I always use a moisturizer). It kinda accentuates my (few) fine lines and I don’t like the look of that. Not to mention how badly it clogs the pores.
When I worked at Sephora, I tried different foundations and tinted moisturizers in an attempt to find the perfect match for my skin type. Among the brands carrying foundations that I felt worked best on me were Yves Saint Laurent, Laura Mercier, and Givenchy. There is a ton of them. I’m sure that if I did a deeper research I would’ve found a lot more. However, I wanted something lighter — not too much coverage — which most foundations don’t offer. That’s when I tried Stila’s Sheer Color Tinted Moisturizer.
I was surprised, too, that out of all brands Stila came through!
It is a tinted, oil-free moisturizer with a hint of color (and sun protection!). My skin complexion is between olive and caramel (I’m not even sure how to describe it), so I purchased the medium color. I always still prep my skin with my Mary Kay Moisturizer because I have really dry skin, but I think this tinted moisturizer can be used with or without it because it’s creamy enough. I also like that it matches my skin tone perfectly and it feels smooth on my face once it sets in. Try it; I recommend it!
